More than just dusty bottles

Re-imagine your wine cellar

Is your wine collection ... collecting dust?

Most wine cellars sit idle, dormant, and forgotten for far too long. Decades of a passionate pursuit, suddenly feels overwhelming and even burdensome.

Don't let your collection turn into a museum! What lies within all those years of sacrifice and patience is a reward that is delightfully enjoyable and uniquely yours.

Whether you have been collecting for 4 years or 40, now is not the time to let a good thing go to waste.

Get back on track of your wine collection with intentional planning, buying, storing, and opening of wine.

To get you there we created a system called the Active Cellar Method introduced below.

UNDERSTANDING WHERE YOU ARE

The Five Stages of Wine Collecting

Over time we collectors go through stages which impact how we think about and use our cellars.

Just being aware of the stages helps determine where we are in our collecting journeys and what exactly our expectations should be during those periods.

Here is an abbreviated version to help you gain perspective on where you are right now. Which ones apply to you? It's certainly possible to be in more than one stage at a time.

1. Exploration. Collectors are learning what they like, trying many new wines, with an endless curiosity. Wine is accompanied by education, new habits and new friends.

2. Accumulation. Buying more wine than you can drink immediately, enthusiasm for your new passion is overwhelming, budgeting and storage are new pursuits.

3. Maturation. The cellar becomes full of aging wines, when collectors open bottles with anticipation, and where things might get a little crowded and disorganized.

4. Enjoyment. The cellar becomes more intentional, collectors open wines with confidence, purchases and re-orders are refined. This is where the magic happens.

5. Depletion. The collection gets smaller through consumption, giving away, or selling, where a planned off-ramp becomes key for maintaining simplicity or building legacy.

THIS IS HOW WE DO IT

The Active Cellar Method

The traditional cellar stores wines.

The modern cellar serves wine.

Most cellars are traditional, passive cellars, where wine is mean to be kept. Only later do we realize our collection isn't serving us the way we hoped for years ago.

With a growing cellar of my own and experiencing the same problems as other collectors, I learned there wasn't much of an operating system to use for personal collecting. I needed something - a comprehensive, yet easy plan of my own - so I created a new system to do just that.

The Active Cellar Method is the only wine cellaring and collecting plan of its kind.

A method born from necessity by a collector, for collectors.

The construct is simple. A 6 part module that any collector can follow, with surveys, evaluations, and plans for making changes and improvements immediately.

Inside you'll get the following modules:

  • Your Wine Reality Check

  • The 5 Stages of Wine Collecting

  • The Active Cellar Framework

  • The Cellar Reset

  • Buying with Purpose

  • The Living Cellar

Along with some seriously helpful reference material including:

  • The Active Cellar vs Passive Cellar curve, and how to avoid having too much of one thing

In the end, you'll get

  • A renewed outlook on your personal collection

GOOD WINE ONLY

A Manifesto for Living

Our goal is to make wine fun again. For many, open a bottle and sharing with loved ones is the pinnacle of wine pleasures.

There are steps to that and we help people get there. Along the way, we have to remind ourselves of the following.

Wine is a product from antiquity.

Wine is a human creation of natural origin.

Wine connects us with the earth.

Wine brings us together.

Some wines can live longer than us.

Cellaring wine shows long term ambition.

Knowing our personal preference is the result of focus.

Enjoying wine with real taste is an exploration worth pursuing.

Opening a bottle at peak maturity is honoring wine.

Without wine, we may not have civilization.

Because of all this, we choose to enjoy GOOD WINE ONLY.
